Directions and Parking

Palmer Lake Regional Park is located at 199 County Line Rd, Palmer Lake, CO 80133 .

You may use the main park entrance at 199 County Line to drop off gear, supplies and runners only. You must park in the lot on the west side of the lake and walk across the bridge. See the event map for more details

Lodging

Car Camping (No trailers)

Option 1. The Town of Palmer Lake has permitted runners to sleep in their car or van in the parking lot of the race the night before.  This is the parking lot in the North West corner of the lake and NOT the parking lot for the park itself.

While conveniently located, this is probably a bad idea if you value the quality of your sleep as the parking lot is right next to the train tracks.

Option 2.

Jellystone Park at Larkspur is 15 minutes from Palmer Lake and has cabins and RV sites

Hotels

Your best option for something near the race would be Airbnb. Otherwise the only hotel in the area is Fairfield Inn and Suites, which is about 13 minutes from Palmer Lake.

The Rules

The race follows the El Paso county park rules for Palmer Lake Regional park. Please review them here

-Alcohol There is no alcohol permitted, but you can walk over to one of the many Palmer Lake restaurants if you need something mid race

-Tents - There is no overnight tent camping in the park (Canopies, chairs tables, and coolers are allowed)

Timing and Lap Counting

You’ll have a race bib that has a timing chip on the back of it, so please wear your race

bib at all times. It’s best if it’s worn on your front somewhere – if we can see your race

bib with our eyes, then the timing equipment can see it as well. Please don’t turn your

bib sideways – it changes the polarity of the timing chips and the ‘read rate’ of the chip

drops dramatically, from something like 99%+ positive read rate to about 25%-30%

positive read rate. Thanks for wearing your race bib at all times!

You’ll also be given a Velcro ankle strap with a waterproof transponder attached to it.

These work in any location below your knee, so either ankle is the best place for it. If

you decide to leave the race site for any reason before your race is finished, please

leave your ankle timing chip with us at the timing tent. That’s how we know whether or

not you’re on the race site grounds – if you’re wearing your timing chip, you’re on the

course somewhere or in the parking lot or at your tent. If we have your timing chip,

you’re off site.

Please turn in your ankle timing chip when you’ve had all the fun you can handle – and

for all of you, this point should come at the end of your race ;-). Thank you for your

cooperation!

Aid Station

We plan to have a fully stocked aid station, providing Hammer Gels, Heed 2.0, and other standard aid station fair (coke, chips etc..) along with hot food at night. I would still recommend that you take advantage of the format of this race and bring what you trained with.

I want to give out as many 100M buckles as possible, this race is about community and many times runners find new life through some type of random fuel, either at the aid station, they brought themselves or via other runners sharing.

IMPORTANT: We will be working to reduce our footprint this year. Please bring an extra cup or handheld for coke or other refreshments.

Crew and Setup

Crew

The Palmer Lake course is open and you can have crew and pacers to support and cheer you on. We ask that you please do not do anything that will over crowd the course and make it hard for other runners to pass. In order to keep it easy to pass, please only have one pacer at a time and no bikes.

Canopies

Canopies are allowed again at 24 Hours at Palmer Lake. In order to reduce the impact to the park, we would like to have the canopies setup in a concentrated area identified in the map below in blue.  This will help reduce the burden on the park and leave some room for the public to come and enjoy the lake. The red areas are not covered by our permit and close at dusk.  This will also help ensure you don't run over the timing mat when going back to crew area.

Only one canopy per registered runner is permitted and please cozy up with the canopy next to you to ensure there is enough space for all.

Please pickup all of your garbage.
